A town that inspired many painters, including Charles-François Daubigny, who pioneered the folding easel and open-air painting. Camille Corot, Jean-François Millet, Alfred Sisley and Édouard Manet all worked here. Vincent van Gogh spent his final weeks in Auvers and rests here beside his brother Théo.

The Cathedral of Saint-Pierre de Beauvais is one of the boldest achievements of Flamboyant Gothic architecture. Its choir, the tallest in the world at 48 metres, remains an architectural feat. The astronomical clock, the church of Saint-Étienne with its stained glass windows and Jesse Tree, and the tapestry museum complete the visit.
